Fun Things To Do
While you are staying at North Shore Cabin, you will find the location of the cabin provides convenient access to many of the local attractions, including Lewis & Clark Lake, yet you are still off the beaten path in a quiet, wooded area where you will often find wild turkey's wandering the property or deer eating our apples!  During the summer, you can take a stroll up the path to get a view of the Lake, bring your bikes and ride a trail, or come during the winter and take your snowmobiles out for a ride.  Doesn't matter the season, at the end of the day, coming back to North Shore Cabin will make you feel like coming home without the work!
Enjoy some of our pictures of local attractions and take a look at some of links we have provided for you to get more information on what to do during your stay.
Bald Eagle in a tree outside of CabinWildlife
There is plenty of wildlife around the lake and our cabin.  You will see deer and turkey daily because they live in the area and some stay on our land, thus get your camera and binoculars ready!  Bald eagles and other birds are especially common during migration of ducks and geese.
This Bald Eagle was in a tree outside of the cabin.

Fishing at Gavins Point DamFishing
If you like to fish, don't forget your fishing pole!  The river and lake along with surrounding areas, is one of the best walleye, catfish, small and largemouth bass fishing area of the whole Midwest. Paddle fish, one of the oldest fish on this planet, can be seen below the dam on a regular basis.  Archery fishing is also very common.
These two were from a bow fishing trip right at the dam!
Race TrackTrails - Walking & Bicyling
There are many bicycle riding paths, walking trails and mountain bike trails, both in both State Parks, Nebraska & South Dakota, and around the Lewis & Clark Lake so don't forget your bikes!  We may have some bicycles for you at a nominal fee of $4/bike/day.  Check with us to see if they are available.
This was taken at a race track only 4 miles from the cabin!
Missouri RiverCanoes & Kayaks
Lewis & Clark Lake, and our cabin, are in the middle of 200 miles of the designation known as the "National Scenic and Recreational River", which has untouched and natural Missouri river channels as they were in the days of Lewis & Clark.  An untamed river runs free from Pickstown (Fort Randall dam) to Niobrara and Springfield, and then from Yankton (Gavins Point Dam) to Ponca.  Those two sections of the river, about 60 miles each, provide exceptional waterway for canoeing and kayaking.
Boating at Lewis & Clark MarinaBoats & Jetskis
To many folks, Lewis & Clark Lake is all about boating and playing on the water.  Thus, do not forget your power toys!  There is plenty of parking space at our property for all of your power toys.  You may also rent some of my boats, we do have three of them.  Or, I may take you, and your companions, on a free boat ride so that you can enjoy the lake.  Talk to me about it to see what we can do to make your stay more enjoyable!
These are some of the boats at the Marina located just down the road from us.
